The Sharing Timer
Once upon a time, in the preschool play corner, there was a super speedy red race car with roaring wheels. Both Ben and Lucas wanted to drive it down the wooden ramp at the exact same moment. "My turn!" shouted Ben. "No, my turn!" pulled Lucas. Teacher Emily brought over a little sand timer filled with blue sand. "Let's use the Sharing Timer! Lucas drives the car while the blue sand trickles down. When the sand reaches the bottom: beep-beep, Ben's turn!" Ben waited patiently, watching the blue sand fall: trickle, trickle. While waiting, Ben built a ramp out of blocks. Beep! The sand ran out. Lucas handed the red car to Ben with a smile: "Here you go, Ben!" "Thanks, Lucas!" They zoomed the car down Ben's ramp together. Taking turns meant no fighting, and playing together was twice as fun.
