Buddy's Bone by the Stream

Once upon a time, a happy little dog named Buddy found a big, juicy bone in the garden. "This is the best bone I have ever found!" Buddy said, wagging his tail, and trotted off toward home. On his way, he crossed a little wooden bridge over a clear, calm stream. Buddy looked down into the water and saw another dog looking back at him, holding a bone that looked even bigger. Buddy did not know it was only his own reflection. "I want that bone too," Buddy thought, and opened his mouth to grab it. Splash! His own bone fell right into the stream and floated away. Buddy felt silly, but then he laughed at himself. "That was just me the whole time!" he giggled, and walked home a little hungry but still wagging his tail. When Buddy got home, his best friend, a duckling named Daisy, waddled over. She had found two bones that morning and happily gave one to Buddy. "Thank you, Daisy! Sharing is even better than having the biggest bone," said Buddy. From that day on, Buddy always remembered to be grateful for what he already had, and to share whenever he could.
