The Magic Pocket Kiss

Once upon a time, on the first day of playschool, little Maya felt butterflies fluttering in her tummy. She held Mommy's hand very tight at the classroom door. Mommy knelt down at eye level and smiled warmly. She took Maya's small palm and pressed a warm, loving kiss right in the center: mwah! Then Mommy gently closed Maya's fingers into a soft fist: "Now put the kiss in your pocket! Whenever you miss me, press your pocket against your heart, and you will feel my love holding you." Maya tucked the magic kiss into her pocket. She waved goodbye: "See you after snack time, Mommy!" Inside, Maya painted a big yellow sun and built block towers with new friends. Whenever she felt a little shy, she tapped her pocket and smiled. And just as promised, when the afternoon bell rang, Mommy was right there waiting with open arms and a giant hug.
