The Monkey and the Crocodile

Once upon a time, by a wide blue river, a cheerful monkey lived in a fruit tree on one bank. Every day, he dropped sweet, juicy berries down to a friendly crocodile swimming below. "Thank you, monkey! These are delicious," the crocodile said with a happy splash, and they became the best of friends. One day, the crocodile said, "My family lives on the other side of the river. Would you like to meet them?" The monkey happily hopped onto the crocodile's back for a ride. Halfway across, the monkey looked down at the sparkling water. "Hold on tight," said the crocodile, swimming steady and slow. When they reached the other side, the crocodile's family was waiting with a big pile of fresh fruit, and they all shared a wonderful feast under the warm sun. The little crocodiles listened, amazed, as the monkey told funny stories about life in the treetops. From that day on, the monkey visited his crocodile friends every week, sometimes bringing berries and sometimes shiny river stones as gifts. The monkey learned that friends can look very different and still love each other very much. And the crocodile family learned that the best rides across the river come with the best of friends.
