The Warm Apology Hug

Once upon a time, while running fast in the hallway, Lucas accidentally bumped into his friend Noah, knocking Noah's picture book to the floor. Noah looked startled and rubbed his elbow. Lucas felt a knot in his stomach. He remembered what Daddy taught him: "When we make a mistake or hurt someone, we fix it with kind words and care." Lucas walked over, picked up the book, and looked Noah in the eye: "I'm sorry I bumped into you, Noah. Are you okay?" Noah rubbed his elbow and smiled: "I'm okay, thank you for picking up my book." Lucas gave Noah a gentle high-five and a warm hug. The knot in Lucas's stomach vanished, replaced by warmth. Saying a sincere "I'm sorry" had healed feelings in a heartbeat.
