Use Your Talking Voice

Once upon a time, little Oliver wanted the blue crayon, but his sister was coloring with it. Oliver felt mad and raised his hand to grab and push! Mommy gently caught Oliver's hand and held it softly: "Hands are for helping and giving hugs, Oliver. Words are for telling how you feel. Use your talking voice." Oliver took a breath, lowered his hand, and said with his clear talking voice: "Can I please have the blue crayon when you are done?" His sister looked up, smiled, and said: "Sure, Oliver, here is the blue crayon!" Oliver realized that using words worked ten times better than pushing or screaming. His talking voice was his greatest superpower.
